Difficulty with balance and fear of falling can make people anxious about moving or going out of the house, For those who have fallen it can be frightening and life changing, especially for older adults. Why Choose our Falls Service?

Our falls rehabilitation service is designed around you, your recovery, your safety, and your home environment.

After a fall, receiving expert physiotherapy can make a significant difference to both physical recovery and confidence.

We will:

  • Complete a full balance assessment to make sure we are targeting exactly the right areas to get you on your feet again.
  • Understand your fears and work with you to feel more confident again.
  • Help you to exercise in the right way for you so that you get stronger, fitter and more independent.
  • Work with you in your own home, or in our clinic. There are benefits to both and we will make sure you are treated in the perfect place to help you progress to feeling confident again. Seeing your home environment can be really helpful to check environmental risks, so we might suggest a home visit even if you are attending clinic.
  • Make rehabilitation practical: we are experts in making exercises fit in with your day to day life, and tailor them to your real life movements, from getting in and out of chairs to safely managing stairs and bathrooms.
  • Identify home risk factors: we can assess trip hazards, layout challenges, and provide practical advice to reduce the risk of future falls.
  • Rebuild confidence safely: many people fear falling again; structured balance and strength work helps restore independence.

At Neurobility, our goal is not just to help you recover from a fall, but to help you feel safe, steady, and confident to open up your world again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is falls rehabilitation for?

Falls rehabilitation is designed for older adults who have experienced a fall, feel unsteady on their feet, or are worried about falling. It is particularly helpful for those recovering from injury, surgery, illness, or a recent hospital stay.

We will talk to you to understand what your fears and concerns are. Then we carry out a thorough assessment of your strength, balance, mobility, and walking pattern. We also look at, or talk about, your home environment to identify potential hazards. From there, we create a personalised rehabilitation plan focused on improving safety and confidence.

No, you do not need a GP referral to book a physiotherapy appointment. However, we are happy to liaise with your GP or other healthcare professionals if needed as part of your care.

As neurological physiotherapists we really understand the balance systems and what keeps us on our feet. Falls aren’t always because of weakness or problems in the legs, they can be more complex than that, particularly as we age and our nervous system changes. Some people fall because of difficulties in the balance systems in their inner ears (the Vestibular System), our experts can assess this and work with you on a multi systems approach.

We can work with you at home, in our clinic , or a combination of both if needed. In the clinic we have a very special piece of equipment called a LiteGait. This allow us to hold you in a harness so that you cannot fall. We can remove as much fear as possible to allow you to really challenge your balance safely. If you can’t get to the clinic we can see you at home, we are masters of adapting to any environment to make sure you are getting exactly what you need. When in your home we can make suggestions about equipment that could help, or ways to make you feel safer as you move around.
