What to expect – Neuro Physio

First of all you can expect a friendly welcome from a team with empathy who understand what you are going through.

What to Expect During Neuro Physiotherapy Sessions:

We may require you to get undressed, so please wear suitable underwear, or bring shorts and a vest top to change into.
Your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment to understand your movement difficulties and what you hope to achieve from working with us.
Your therapist will talk to you about your individual needs and work with you to make a plan to help you to achieve your goals and make the most of your abilities.
We know that neurological conditions can be unpredictable so we will always start your session with a catch up on how you have been and take account of how you are that day. Every session will be tailored to you and your goals of physiotherapy. You can expect your sessions to be a mix of exercise, practicing tasks, hands on work to reduce stiffness or enhance sensation and use of our equipment and technology to maximise your rehabilitation.
We will monitor your progress and goals regularly to make sure we are meeting your expectations. If you ever have any questions about your treatment, please discuss this with your therapist, or if you prefer, please get in touch with our Practice Managers.

Your Role in the Process:

Open communication with your physiotherapist is crucial. Please share your goals, concerns, and any changes in your condition. We also love to hear about life in general so we can get to know you well.
To get the best possible results you should attend sessions regularly and adhere to home exercises provided by your physiotherapist.
Engage actively in your rehabilitation, as your effort plays a huge part in achieving positive outcomes.
Please provide feedback on how exercises and activities feel, so we can adjust them to meet your needs. If your exercises are too hard, too easy, boring, or uncomfortable and you are not doing them we need to know so we can change them for you!

We offer a range of services from intensive rehabilitation to maintenance programmes.

Intensive programmes are for those who have not had therapy for a while, or who are in the early stages of their recovery process. You may be looking to get on your feet again after a period of illness, or looking to explore the scope for recovery, or just to work at getting fitter and stronger with faster results.

Maintenance and ongoing exercise programmes are for those who are a bit further down the line and want to have a bespoke exercise programme that can be tweaked as their condition changes. You might struggle to exercise regularly without someone checking in with you and want a personal trainer type approach to keep you on track. You might need some help to do your exercises. You might want to pop in for a review with one of our physios every few weeks to talk about how you are doing and have regular, expert advice. We aim to help you to be proactive in managing your neurological condition to keep you as mobile, fit and strong as possible for as long as possible. We will help you to build a programme of exercise that suits you, your abilities and your lifestyle.

We have had training in hydrotherapy (physiotherapy in water) so we are comfortable teaching you exercise in water or helping you to learnt to swim again.
