Stroke

It is never too late to explore the potential for recovery from stroke and, with the right treatment, change is possible long after a stroke.
A Stroke is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention. It occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, which kills the brain cells in that area. This interruption can result from a clot blocking a blood vessel (ischemic stroke) or from the rupture of a blood vessel (haemorrhagic stroke). Regardless of the type, stroke can have profound effects on a person’s physical and cognitive abilities.

Stroke can affect various aspects of a person’s life, including movement, sensation, speech, cognition, and emotional well-being. The effects of stroke can range from mild to severe and may require extensive rehabilitation to regain lost function. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in stroke rehabilitation, helping people to maximise their recovery potential and regain independence in daily activities.

Here at Neurobility Limited we understand the complex challenges that people face after having a stroke. Our expert team of physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants create personalised treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals so that people can regain independence and make the most of their abilities. We understand some of the cognitive and communication problems that can come with a stroke and we adapt our approach accordingly so that people get the most out of their physio sessions. We work alongside other professionals in the private sector and NHS to make sure there is an integrated approach to therapy.

We focus on improving mobility and motor function through exercises and activities designed to strengthen muscles, improve balance, increase sensation, and enhance coordination. We use a hands-on approach to help to guide movement, give sensory input and align muscles to make a change in the nervous system – this change is called neuroplasticity. We combine this with carefully designed exercise and practice programmes to do at home, or with our Physiotherapy Assistants to maximise the intensity of treatment. Our treatment is complemented by the technology we have available in the clinic such as the LiteGait, MMGO, Gripable and electrical stimulation devices.
